The Godthab VCS has given me a terrific rides over the last few months. Not a forgiving boat though, due to no first stability. But as soon as the paddler has aquired some support strokes techniques and high/low braces, this boat is nothing but fun. A fast boat in general but breaking waves slows it down now that it weathercoks - bearing in mind it has only a rear fin. Paddler has to put extra effort in eadging the boat when turning in lumpy waters and winds. Therefore some stern rudder or braces can be essential when turning in rougher conditions. Works pretty fine in surf and tracks well. What a sharp bow; it slides the waves like butter and where are the splashes? The most exiting boat of the 20 different boats I have paddled so far. First weeks on this boat were quite stressful but it surely rewards anyone who wants to take some time to learn how to break this Colt of a boat.
Design absolutly gorgious, but those anti-userfriendly hatches makes no sense. I´ll forgive that. Great craftmanship and super finish. Cockpit does not fit large paddlers (over ca. 165 lbs) Godthab LX may be a better option for the big paddlers.
The Gotdhab VCS type is such a lightweight boat that rolling requires confidence now that the paddler wearing his buoyancy
will not automaticly turn vertical
under water when capsizing. Learn to roll on both sides, thank you.
The Godthab is an exiting and extremely lively boat for advanced paddlers.
This is the only Godhab boat I´ve ever seen on the my waters. Besides that I´ve not seen a single review on the boat on the Internet. Therefore, riding this pistol of a boat feels like being the lonesome cowboy - but I love every single minute of it.
